MEANING OF ICT

                                Information and CommunicationsTechnology or ICT, is often used as an extended synonym for information technology(IT), but is a more specific term that stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications (telephone MEANING OF ICT  lines and wireless signals), 
                            computers as well as necessary software, middleware, storage, and audio-visual systems, which enable users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.

INFORMATION

Every person is acquiring different types of facts in their daily life toper form his work smoothly. For this they are using different sources like: 
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines 
  • Books
  • Radio
  • Television
  • Telephone
  • Internet etc
  • These all facts could be in verbal or digital form.
  • These facts are called data or raw data.
  • Without analysis, the raw data are meaningless. 
  • After analyzing the raw data, we can get the meaning from it. 

DEFINITION OF INFORMATION

            Information can be defined as data processed into a form that result is meaningful to the recipient and is of real value in current or future action.

COMMUNICATION

                Mutual exchange of facts, ideas, opinions or emotions between two or more persons is known as ‘communication’. The word communication is derived from Latin word ‘communis’ which means common.

DEFINITION OF COMMUNITION

  • According to ‘John Dewey’ “communication is a process of sharing experience till it becomes a common possession.”
  • Any group activity is impossible without communication

TECHNOLOGY

        Technology can refer to material objects of use to humanity, such as machines or hardware, but it can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization and techniques. 

MEANING OF TECHNOLOGY

           The word technology is derived from Greek word ‘Tecnikos’ or ‘Techne’ Means Art or Craft.

DEFINITION OF TECHNOLOGY

  • ‘It is an application of science in Art.’ -Feish(1964) 
  • Technology can be referred as a system having various interrelated components arranged by scientific method to obtain desire objectives.- Dr. Das

ICT DEFINITION 

        ICT is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance .

IMPORTANCE AND APPLICATION OF ICT 

  • Making the teaching-learning process simple, easy, helpful and interesting.
  • Individualization of learning.
  • Making the learning more lively interactive.
  • High speed delivery of content.
  • Wide reach at low cost.
  •  Providing uniform quality of education.
  •  Reduction of the cost of education.
  •  To make the education distance and climate insensitive.
  •  Providing multiple teaching functions and diverse  audiences.
  •  Fulfilling the demands of education as well as the needs of the students, increasing day-by- day

1.RADIO 

  • Radio is the oldest tool and provides entertainment to masses to a great extent in recent past. 
  • It seeks to build up the listener’s attitudes favorable towards the new information useful to them

2. NEWSPAPER

  • Press or newspaper is the most important ICT tools. 
  • Agriculture related issues, sports, business, etc or any other related issues people get knowledge about this.


3. TELEVISION 

  • Being for communication with audience low literacy skills, an audio- visual medium, T.V. has been more advantageous than other medium. 
  • The large no. of transmitter, Doordarshan has cover the entire population

4. CHART AND FOLDER 

  • Farmer’s community teaches by expert through chart and folder. 
  • Related knowledge are printed in the charts and folder and people grasp information about this.

5 . SLIDE PRESENTATION

  • Slide is a transparent pictures.
  •  With the help of projector a large reflection of a slide is reflected on a screen 
  • Farmers easily grasp knowledge by seeing slides.

6. COMPUTER AND INTERNET 

  • The internet is emerging as potential tools to contribute to agriculture development as one can have access to vast global information resources. 
  • People can easily access its services

7.TELEPHONE AND MOBILE 

  • Telephone is also one of strong way of communication. 
  • Simplest and easiest way of communication
     

8. INTRANET

An intranet is a computer network that uses Internet Protocol technology to share information, operational systems, or computing services within an organization.

9.TELECONFERENCING

  • This involves multiple interconnected telephones/PCS 
  • Each person can hear and talk to all of the others involves in the call. 
  • since it involves a telephone network , a teleconference call or something an audio conferencing call .


10. TELETAX 

  • A fully automated phone service that offers prerecorded messages on various tax topics for callers 
  • Teletax covers about 150 different tax-related issues commonly faced by taxpayers, such as who must file, tax credits, retirement accounts and payment arrangements.

11. EXPERT SYSTEMS 

  • An expert performing a specialist task often uses very simple reasoning. His/ her expertise comes from year of experience . 
  •  The expert system derives their power from knowledge “in the knowledge is the power” is the key concept of expert system.

12.DIGITAL LIBRARY

  • A digital library was designed and developed to provide extension service for beekeepers. 
  •  The digital library provides information on various aspects
